For all of those that replied to the last post.

Is what you’re doing now (Your current major. Your degree. Your current job. Your current thoughts on your future) in any way related to your answer?

If not, reply in disqus or reblog with a reply why not?

I have two dream “careers” at this point being a 1) consultant in a total design capacity and following my academic interests in human evolution, disease, public health, and medical systems.

1) My dream “corporate” career is a mix between the traditional business roles and more artistic and design-oriented. I think I do a lot of design-related thinking (either the design itself or issues needing design). I also have the necessary entrepreneurial and business-oriented thinking (and some experience on that end). However, I don’t necessarily have the technical capabilities of design at this point, and I’m not sure most designer can be any good without significant technical knowledge. For instance, there have been very few designers which have been “successful” designers without an intimate knowledge of tailoring. Regardless, that’s a major work in progress that has been put on hold by school…

2) My second dream “academic” career is much more straight forward. I’m studying and working in related areas to my academic interests, but it’s definitely not a perfect fit, and there’s a bit of a journey to that end. In fact, it might be a harder path just because it’s so competitive being an academic and getting placements in schools, programs, etc. While, if you’re a good designer, your work speaks for itself.
